Introduction to fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA)
This course features an introduction to the principles of fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis that enables you to support your research and theories using the fsQCA free software
Course description
The course methodology is flexible since it has five “recorded” or asynchronous sessions with the option of “live” or synchronous classes on demand that will allow you to interact live with the teacher.
Along the course I will guide you through the fundamentals of fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis. The scope is a practical approach with exercises and clear application to the development of research projects.
Thanks to the analytical solutions offered by fsQCA free software, we will execute the entire analytical process associated with this technique using already collected data from research from the grassroots football club sector.
Thus, most of the content of this course is eminently practical.
This course is broadly targeted to researchers and professionals in social sciences interested in use fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis to investigate their theories.
Once you have purchased the course, you can start it whenever you want and complete the lessons at your own pace. The contents (videos, slides and data files) are housed in a Virtual Classroom to which you will have access at any time and for ever.
If you want to complement the course with live (synchronous) classes, we can organize the dates that best suit your needs.
The course does not have an established duration, but it can be completed perfectly in 1 or 2 weeks, it all depends on your level of involvement. If you need it, when you finish the course, you will receive a certificate of completion that certifies that you have successfully completed the course.
The course lessons are made up of five recorded video classes, a pdf document with the key ideas of the lesson and the data files necessary to solve the research problems raised throughout the course.
After this course you will be able to run and interpret fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis fitted to real empirical data. And in particular learn to:
- Know the basics of Boolean algebra and set theory.
- Understand the theoretical motivations for choosing fsQCA for your project.
- Calibration of variables.
- Perform a necessary and sufficient conditions analysis.
- Examine and run the fsQCA software (freeware available from fsqca.com).
- Evaluate and interpret the results of a fsQCA project.
